Ulysses Press

While working at
OrangeYouGlad
An independent publisher that specializes in quick-fire publications that respond to the latest trends.
They understood that their original brand felt dated and needed an update to better match their trend-focus business.
The original logo represents the main character of Leopold Bloom, James Joyce’s famously formidable novel Ulysses, who travels around Dublin, bringing the city to life with tales of daily occurrences. I wanted to retain this representation of a curious everyday traveler with a new modern take on a universal person.
It was important that the brand look contemporary but not of a trend itself. Leaning into a minimalist and clean aesthetic, this lets the publications shine in an open and contemporary setting.
Ironic Illustrations
To bring some warmth to the wide open white spaces and clean lines introduced with the new brand, I introduced drawn illustrations with a tinge of humor. The intention was to make them noticeably hand-done and just a bit off with the depiction of subject.
